Being initially attracted by the shadows on trees she spotted on grass, she spent months studying a method that did not convey the selected object as a two-dimensional image on canvas. The subject is a mirror that is its own while the canvas is carrying an interpretation by painting of the object, especially in the case of a living object or perishable for example, fruit or humans. The style that Alexa paints is one of ephemeral, and only images of her work are preserved. Trompe l'oeil is achieved using the two processes of photography and painting. This creates a flattened, two dimensional picture. Meade will sometimes integrate her painted model into the surrounding three-dimensional environment that allows the model to be a part of their own world. The boundaries between performance, installation, photography and painting can be dissolved.
